Unit B officially opens to the public with Terns Turning, a video installation by Meredith Leich. Terns Terning is based on the lives and migration of birds nesting on islands just off the New Hampshire coast. Terns Turning projects white light onto a series of fabric panels, which fracture and spatialize the silhouettes of terns as they dart, soar, and attack. Animated lines trace location-specific migrations routes from North to South America: a collaboration of sorts among the terns’ flight paths, the scientists’ satellite tracking, and animation.
